One way to make more money is to start your own business. If you have the desire to take on additional responsibility, take courageous risks, and make the business you want to see in the world, then do it! Businesses are hiring independent contractors (who are, in fact, small business owners) more and more. People are looking around for services, or quality of service they are not getting, and you can be the one to bring it to them!
So why not start your own business? Sure there are a few risks involved, but in this woman's opinion, it is worth the risk, for the experience alone. You don’t even need money to start a business. You can sell services, writing, knowledge, art made of recycled or natural materials, or dance! You can talk to anyone you meet about what you can provide! You, either with a group or by yourself, become able to do what you want to do, define what you want to give to the world, rather than have someone else—your boss—decree it. Yes, you will have to listen to the market as your boss, but you get to choose the path you take to meet the market’s needs, and feel proud of the choices you make.
I believe starting your own business, taking your destiny into your own hands – owning it and taking complete responsibility for what happens to you, is one path to self-actualization.
From my studies, it seems apparent that you need to do the following things in order to achieve success:
- Find something to do that you will continue to feel strongly about. Keep feeling strong. Nurture your passion. Know what you want and focus on it.
- Keep believing in yourself and that your dreams are trying to come true in any way possible.
- Realize you will need to give your dream a good long amount of time to succeed and grow up! Don't stop believing!
- Don’t step on the first plank of the bridge, and think you are across. Keep journeying. Keep growing. And enjoy this journey!
